16Stories.org Coalition Unveils 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

Today marks a momentous occasion as 16Stories.org, a dynamic coalition of media advocates, announces its coalition-led campaign  #GenerousActivism, an inspiring theme for the upcoming 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. This revolutionary initiative seeks to amplify voices, spotlight unsung heroes, and weave a tapestry of collaboration to confront the pressing challenges of sexual and gender-based violence.

The campaign has rallied an influential coalition, a symphony of organizations, visionary individuals, and devoted partners, all united in pursuing positive transformation. Among the luminaries contributing to this vibrant mosaic are the GivingTuesday Africa Hub, African Philanthropy Forum, Industry Nite, The Italian Embassy, Benin Republic Embassy, Rev Up (Afrilab), 2Face, Alhanislam, Eden Ventures, TASCK, BusinessDay, EYO Cultural Centre, and MAAHT (Music Assembly Against Human Trafficking).

Catherine Mwendwa, GivingTuesday Africa Hub Director, shares more about the campaign – “Generosity isn’t just about material things; it’s also about investing your time and voice to build a safer world, especially in ending gender-based violence. Imagine us coming together with empathy to champion fair rules, justice, and equality. Through this initiative, we aim to create spaces that honor peaceful cultures and encourage everyone to take action in their daily lives.”

As an integral facet of the #GenerousActivism campaign, 16Stories.org will unveil 16 captivating impact stories, showcasing the remarkable endeavors of individuals and organizations committed to leaving an indelible mark. From the distribution of reusable sanitary pads to the advocacy for girl-child education, each story stands as a living testament to the profound impact of #GenerousActivism.

Matthew Ohio, the spokesperson for the coalition, underscores, “At the essence of the coalition’s mission is an unwavering commitment to storytelling through the harmonies of music, the visual poetry of short films, the resonance of podcasts, and the canvas of other artistic expressions.”

The campaign takes flight with the Industry Nite and Music Album Launch set to dazzle on November 25 at the Hardrock Cafe. This event promises inspirational fireside chats, live performances, and the debut of a soul-stirring campaign album. The coalition continues with a mind-stirring panel discussion and a vodcast listening soirée at the Gender Summit in Abuja.

In the spirit of unity and transformation, 16Stories.org extends a heartfelt invitation to media luminaries, influencers, and the public to join hands in amplifying the #GenerousActivism campaign and contributing to the movement to drive positive change in gender-based violence in Africa.
