THE LUXURY NETWORK NIGERIA HOSTS A MEMBERS’ NETWORKING FORUM

The Luxury Network Nigeria, a private membership club for luxury business owners and enthusiasts in Nigeria, hosted their first members’ networking forum for the year on the theme, “The Future of Luxury in Nigeria,” on Thursday 9th of June 2022 at the ultramodern Affinity Art Gallery, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The exclusive event, which was the organization’s initiative to bring members together, celebrate strategic partnerships already being formed within the network, and promote the need to continue creating unique partnerships, was hosted by Ms. Bukky George-Taylor—the Director of Strategic Partnerships, The Luxury Network Nigeria and the CEO of Robert Taylor Media. The event commenced with a welcome introduction by Mr. Samuel Abiola-Jacobs—the Managing Director, The Luxury Network Nigeria, after which the host facilitated an open discussion on The Future of Luxury in Nigeria.

Emphasizing the importance of such members’ networking event, Mr. Samuel Abiola-Jacobs said, “One of the core benefits of The Luxury Network’s membership is to give active members the opportunity to regularly connect with other like-minded luxury brand directors, as well as attend pre-arranged meetings to present and discuss new business development ideas. We are glad to have hosted this event to help us establish that the future of luxury in Nigeria is actually hinged on creating unique partnerships and collaboration that will raise the prestige and awareness of our brands while birthing new ideas for an evolving industry.”

Guests who attended the networking event included Mr. Teka Jibril—the Regional Director (Africa) of RIF Trust, Mr. Abasam Onyia—the Director of Business Development of SANTIS by Paelon, Ms. Wumi Jubril—the CEO of SRS Collection, Mr. Eddie Madaki—the Meta Luxury Manager of William Grant Nigeria, Mrs. Oyetola Okusanya—the CEO of C&C Luxury, Mrs. Moni Aisida—the Gallery Manager of Affinity Art Gallery, Ms. Yetty Ogunnubi—the CEO of The YD Company, among other distinguished members and partners of the affinity group. 

Guests were welcomed to a luxury cocktail reception courtesy of The Balvenie, and were satiated with exquisite canapes as they feasted their eyes on an amazing array of artworks that beautified the room.

Lagos Leather Fair: Two Thousand Key Stakeholders Converged to Promote the Nigerian Leather Sector

To further drive growth within the Nigerian leather sector whilst also educating and creating maximum visibility for leading leather players across Africa, key stakeholders spread across Sub-Saharan Africa gathered at the just concluded Lagos Leather Fair (LLF) 5 to discuss the road map to the future of the leather industry.

The 2-day event which sought to reiterate the potential economic impact of the leather sector on the Nigerian economy had in attendance over 2000 key stakeholders including the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adeniyi Adebayo, Ex-Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, and members from several Federal Ministries, Bank of Industry, Trade bodies, financial institutions, Leather designers, players in the leather ecosystem as well as local and international investors.

Speaking at the fair, the Convener of the Lagos Leather Fair, Femi Olayebi, expressed her delight about the large gathering and the quality of conversations had at the fair. She said “It has been a delight for us to once again hold a physical edition of Lagos Leather Fair, and we are extremely pleased with the success recorded. The crowds poured in across the two-day event in droves, and it is a testament to the value that the finished leather goods sector has for the wider industry if properly harnessed. For five years now, we have constantly provided a platform for leather and lifestyle enthusiasts and industry players to come together, to enhance visibility for the industry, whilst also championing conversations on how to move the industry forward. And this year, despite the impact of the pandemic, we have seen that industry players have continues to hone their craftsmanship, their skills, and their innovation, in order to drive the shift that we need to make the industry’s potential a reality. we are glad to have created this platform to showcase some of the country’s wins and economic prosperity. Some exhibitors who have been with us from the very first edition have now metamorphosed into international phenomenons, driving a positive Made-in-Nigeria narrative on the global stage.”

Speaking further, she also said, “As we round up year five with much excitement and optimism, the work continues — we are determined to continue to seek out ways to pull all the necessary thought leaders, policymakers, and key players together to keep changing the narrative and advancing the necessary conversations.”

Also speaking at the event, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and InvestmentMr. Adeniyi Adebayo said “We are proud of the good works of Lagos Leather Fair over the past 5 years, they have created a solid platform where everyone within the leather ecosystem can meet up and hold conversations on how to move the industry forward. The result of this has become very visible with the growing attention gained by the industry and increased collaboration amongst players. For us as a ministry, we will continuously drive support till the potential of the leather industry is fully harnessed in Nigeria.

The fair also featured masterclass conversations that addressed the challenges of cross-border payments for SMEs, the role of the AFCFTA in aiding intra-African, and ways to enhance growth for businesses within the leather industry. Speakers were drawn from all sectors of the economy across finance, policy, manufacturing, and consultancy.

With the massive potential hidden within the hide and skin manufacturing sector and its impact on Nigeria’s economy, the Lagos Leather Fair has continued to lead the conversation aimed at changing the narrative within the industry across Nigeria and Africa at large.

RIF TRUST NIGERIA CELEBRATES ITS YEAR ANNIVERSARY 

RIF Trust Nigeria, a member of The Luxury Network Nigeria, recently celebrated its one-year anniversary and the official opening of its new office on the 24th of May 2022, at The Wings Office Complex, Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island Lagos. 

The high-profile event hosted local and international dignitaries including the Honourable Commissioner, Budget & Economic Planning, for Lagos State Government, Mr. Sam Egube, Mr. Lorne Theophilus (Chairman of the Citizenship by the Investment Board of Saint Lucia and former Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries). Also in attendance was the MD of The Luxury Network Nigeria, Mr. Samuel Abiola-Jacobs, among a number of VIPs and Celebrities.

The event commenced with a general recitation of the National Anthem and an introduction of RIF Trust & Latitude Group by the CEO of RIF TrustVice Chairman of Latitude Group, Mr. Mimoun Assraoui. This was followed by a special video message from His Excellency Dr. Ernest Hilaire (Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia and Minister of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information).

Other activities that materialized at the event were an Award Presentation by Mr. David Regueiro, Chief Operating Officer & Managing Partner, RIF Trust & Latitude Group, together with Mr. Ranny A. Musher, IMCM, B2B Regional Director & Managing Director, RIF Trust Nigeria. In addition, there proceeded an Introductory Speech about Saint Lucia by Mr. Lorne Theophilus, Chairman of the Citizenship by Investment Board Saint Lucia, Saint Lucia Award / RIF Trust Nigeria Advisory Board Presentation.

Not being one to take the safe route towards designing, Emmy decided to go contrarian to conventional wisdom in style and fashion once again. This time, in his belief that, if the aesthetics were right, anything can be paired with anything else nowadays, he opted to clash diverse shades and sizes of neon colored polka dots fabrics against each other. EMAC SMEAR IT CAMPAIGN

January is cervical cancer awareness month.

Exquisite Magazine has started a campaign #smearit in support to prevent cervical cancer.

This is to encourage ladies to get their pap smear done and #getscreened. Also #spreadtheword  as #earlydetection is key. Everyone is encouraged to also join the #smearit selfie challenge by posting a picture of themselves with their lipstick smeared on their faces. After which they can nominate any of their friends and family to join in the fun. Every hour in Nigeria, women die of cervical cancer, a disease that is largely preventable thanks to annual Pap Smear and HPV vaccination. Unfortunately, a lot of people; do not go for their yearly screenings, have not had the vaccination and do not know that early detection is key to increasing survival rates. It is very important that we educate everyone about the disease, its symptoms and ways to prevent and treat it.

The Exquisite Magazine Cervical Cancer Prevention Week provides us with an opportunity to do just that! January 2017 is the global cervical cancer awareness month and February 4th, 2017 is World Cancer Day and there’s no better time to go for a screening and create awareness about this now!

Cervical cancer screening can help detect abnormal cells before they turn into cancer. Most deaths from cervical cancer can be prevented by regular screening tests and follow up care.

The EMAC Cervical Cancer Prevention Week seeks to spread the word about the important steps that women need to take to stay healthy and encourage parents about how important it is for Pre-teens to get HPV (Human papilloma virus) vaccine, both girls and boys.em-cervical-flier_4c

There are lots of ways you can get involved during the week, we would like you to;

  • Take part in our #getscreened selfie campaign that we’re launching that week. This will be a poster with your picture and a short quote encouraging girls and women to get screened, go for regular screening and also take the vaccines.
  • Take part in our #Smearit selfie campaign, where you would smear your lipstick on your face to depict the smear test that is one of the methods of screening. This is to also encourage women to go and get screened.

We would provide guidance, should you require this, for your quote and smearit selfie.
You could also be a part of the following;

  • displaying our posters and leaflets in hospitals, libraries, salons, spas, church and more
  • put the web badge on your website
  • Donate to support our cervical cancer awareness programmes which include free screening and treatment for early stages of pre cancer cells, vaccination for children in public schools.
