
The 2025 Easter Tournament at the Abuja Guards Polo Club came to a spirited close on Monday, April 21st, after five thrilling days of fast-paced matches, community gatherings, and moments that will linger well beyond the season.

Set against the lush Asokoro grounds, the tournament welcomed teams from across the region, as well as notable guests, including His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar, CFR, the Etsu of Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, who graciously attended the final day.Over the course of the tournament, spectators were treated to a vibrant mix of tradition and rising talent. From seasoned contenders like Rubicon to fast-rising teams like Barbedos, every match was a reminder that the future of polo is not just secure—it’s thrilling. Easter Monday’s finals delivered high-octane showdowns with Profile Polo Club securing a clean 3–0 win over Rubicon, while Jelly Beans edged out Good Friday 5–4, and Samu triumphed over Napa in a 3–2 face-off.
Among the many highlights of the weekend was a stirring reflection from Mohammed Wali, who remarked on the club’s growing influence: “Guards Polo is shaping the future of the sport in Nigeria. We’re grateful to our sponsors and supporters for creating a space where beginners are welcomed and given the chance to grow. Greatness truly starts at the grassroots.” he said.
Senator Dauda Halliru Jika (Dokajin Bauchi), President of the Abuja Guards Polo Club, also shared his gratitude at the close of the event: “This Easter, we not only celebrated the spirit of polo but the strength of our community. From the players to the spectators, everyone brought life to this tournament. We’re grateful to all who contributed to making this a celebration of sport, connection, and growth.”

Off the field, guests enjoyed curated vendor showcases, a vibrant market space, and dining experiences at the club’s restaurant, making it more than a tournament, but a lifestyle occasion.For those who missed it, the excitement isn’t over yet.
