About Africa Knockout Championship (AKO 5)
Launched in 2020 as an MMA talent reality TV show, AKO concentrates on African talents, merging sports and entertainment seamlessly. Its first season brought together 14 amateur fighters divided into two teams, who lived and trained together for nine weeks.
Since then, AKO has become a popular fixture on the Nigerian sports calendar, achieving substantial reach and viewership of African sports content locally and internationally.
The AKO Championship, initiated in 2023, stands out as the first pan-African professional boxing and mixed martial arts (MMA) championship.
