ELOY Conference 2020 Holds in November.

ELOY Awards Foundation confirms Mrs Oulimata Sarr, Regional Director, UN Women and more speakers for the ELOY Conference 2020. Exquisite magazine’s ELOY Conference will hold virtually on Friday, November 27th , 2020 from 11am.  Exquisite magazine has been consistently organizing the ELOYs since 2009, to celebrate and recognize women of excellence in different fields to inspire and motivate others.
 
The ELOY Conference under the ELOY Awards Foundation is to empower women in Micro/Small businesses and women in the rural areas.
 
The spotlight is beaming on women. It is evident in Nigeria and around the world as policymakers and business support organizations are waking up to the idea that women are good for the economic prosperity of the nation. Women are the powerhouse of a nation. The pandemic has also shown that women are a force to be reckoned with; most of the countries that were recognized as having managed the COVID-19 crisis best are led by women. It is time to recognize that women are here and we are making a huge difference. THEME OF THE ELOY CONFERENCE 2020: The Women are Here – Empower Her.Our theme this year is to continue the conversation and action steps towards having a more inclusive representation of women in all sectors, especially in leadership roles and for women-owned businesses to be appreciated, recognized and not belittled. Everything you missed at this year’s ELOY Conference.

 ELOY 2019
History was made at the maiden edition of the ELOY Conference. The ELOY Conference took place on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos. The event kicked off with an opening prayer led by Pastor Ituah Ighodalo. The theme of the conference was “Empower Her to Sustain Her”.
The convener of the event, Mrs Tewa Onasanya welcomed the attendees and encouraged them to push themselves harder and always know that they can achieve everything they set out to do. Dr. (Mrs) Ifeyinwa Ukaegbu, representing the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Her Excellency, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefuleri delivered the keynote speech where she spoke about how important women empowerment is and the benefits of gender equality.

Also delivering a goodwill note on behalf of the Lagos State Governor, Governor Babajide SanwooluSolape Hammond relayed the governor’s support. In addition, she mentioned various ways by which the Lagos state government is empowering women.

Speaking on the first panel were Solape Hammond, Ini Abimbola, Yinka Fisher and Tale Alimi where they discussed ‘The Importance of Sustaining Women Empowerment’. This panel was moderated by Mrs Tewa Onasanya.

The second panel featured Ommo Clark, Lola Ekugo, Oreoluwa Somolu Lesi, Jones Bassey and Layole Oyatogun as the moderator; they discussed the panel topic “Using Technology and Digital Media to your advantage”.

Samantha Turner-Girard, Damilola Owolabi, Olori Ajayi and Eno Essien were panellists for the third panel and their topic focused on “Habits of Successful Business owners” which was moderated by Tokunbo Chiedu

The fourth panel with the topic “Becoming Aware of Unconscious Gender Bias” had Kamil Owofolajo, Charles O’Tudor and Charles Odii in discussion with moderator Toyosi Etim-Effiong.

The final panellists were Mary Akpobome, Fatima Olajumoke, Lucky Idike, Chris Oputa, Teju Abisoye and was moderated by Lehle Bahle. They dissected “How to Access Finance for a Business – Determining your company’s financial needs”.

Janet Adetu held the first master class where she focused on the importance of etiquettes as an individual which transcends to a business.Abiola Adediran’s master class emphasized why there should be a definite structure in every business.

Ivie Temitayo-Ibitoye took the master class on “Sustaining your Workforce” where she implored all business owners to pay attention to their employees.

Charles O’Tudor’s master class tagged, “Branding and advertising that works” suggested ways to successful branding and advertising experience in the final masterclass.

The highlight of the conference was the business pitch competition where 6 finalists were thoroughly drilled by the judges. They commended their business ideas which encouraged Mrs Mary Akpobome to offer a sum of 250,000 Naira each to all six finalists. In addition, Engr. Chris Oputa promised one of the finalists a life-changing business opportunity. This also encouraged Charles O’Tudor to offer them intensive 3 months of branding servicesMichael Musa of Africa Business Radio with media presence in over 35 countries pledged to support the finalists with free media publicity for their brands.

Mrs Tewa Onasanya mentioned that the winner of the grant of 1 million Naira will be announced on the awards night and ascertained that the ELOY team is ready to ensure that whoever wins the money will be strictly monitored for proper management and of the funds.

The 1st annual ELOY conference is a part of the initiative of the ELOY Awards Foundation. The ELOY Conference is being used as a platform to educate and empower thousands of women. The ELOY Awards Foundation is about empowering and challenging thousands of women to be more and do more by providing access to resources, business skills and tools for them to be able to grow, transform and sustain their businesses, which will, in turn, benefit their families and the community at large.

50 women will also be chosen to be part of the ELOY Awards Foundation Sustainable Empowerment Program (SEP). This gives them access to Six months mentorship, trainings and affordable finance. The ELOY Awards Foundation is about empowering and challenging thousands of women to be more and do more by providing access to resources, business skills and tools for them to be able to grow, transform and sustain their businesses, which will, in turn, benefit their families and the community at large.
This year’s edition is themed; “Empower her to sustain her”.
The ELOY Conference will take place on Wednesday, 13 November 2019 at The Muson Center, Lagos.

MRS. FATIMA OLAJUMOKE

Mrs Fatima Olajumoke attended the prestigious Secondary School Queen’s College Yaba Lagos.

She holds a B.SC degree in Accounting from the University of Jos, Plateau state in 1998, and an MBA in Finance from Ladoke Akintola university of Technology in 2010.

She is a CBN Certified Microfinance Banker and an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management.

She is also a Fellow Member of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria and Association of Economists and Statisticians of Nigeria.

Mrs Fatima Olajumoke has over 17 years working experience beginning with her National Youth Service at Akintola Williams Adetona /Isichie and co. and thereafter worked with Basic Komputers before joining the Bank in 2002.

She was the former Branch Manager at NPF Microfinance Bank Ikeja branch and is presently the Head, Marketing Department of the bank.

She has attended various Managerial and Marketing Courses amongst which are trainings organised by CBN/AFOS/MicroSave on Savings Mobilisation and Digital Financial Services, and Lagos Business School on Executive Sustainability and Social Impact Assessment training.

She has been in the fore Front Promoting and Coordinating the Financial Inclusion policy of CBN and the Government in the bank.

Lucky Idike Jr.

Lucky Idike is an economist and chartered accountant with extensive consulting experience.

An alumnus of two of Nigeria’s most prestigious educational institutions (King’s College Lagos & University of Lagos) and a Fellow of ICAN, Nigeria’s foremost Professional Association, he has led and worked in various teams on a wide range of engagements in the public and private sector organisations (both for-profit and not-for-profit) developing strong competencies.

He is a value-adding team leader and player, with a high level of integrity. Lucky has travelled extensively within Nigeria and internationally, and possesses a sound knowledge of the socio-economic, political and cultural environment in Nigeria and the sub-region. He is interested in diverse cultures and uses his trips to catalyze his passion for Nigeria’s development.

He is passionate about the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge as a tool for growth/empowerment and is, therefore, an avid reader of books and journals on leadership, finance, management, biographies, fiction and history.

A good public speaker, he brings to speaking and consulting assignments and ability to present a clear and well-articulated thought flow and also to illustrate, clearly and graphically, painting a vivid picture with words. Prepared for a leadership role in Nigeria’s public sector, Lucky brings strong passion, strong values and a determination to make a strong impact regardless of challenges.

IFEANYI CHRISTOPHER OPUTA (ENGR.) – MD/CEO

Ifeanyi Christopher Oputa is a serial entrepreneur and the founding CEO of COLVI LTD, owners of Studio24. He has been in business for over 3 decades and has a vast knowledge of the digital imaging industry, fashion industry, and real estate.

Engr Oputa led the company through its expansion from a little corner-shop in Kaduna, GRA to a multi-faceted business organization employing over 350 talented full-time team members.

Ifeanyi Oputa has won Dozens of awards for his work over the years and is a happy father to Maria Ndaliaku Oputa.

MARY AKPOBOME

Mary Akpobome is the Chief Operating Officer of HBCL Investment Services Plc, a private Investments company. Prior to her appointment to HBCL Investment Services Plc, Mary was the Executive Director, Business Banking overseeing all Corporate, Commercial, Special Projects, Intervention Schemes, Multilaterals, Agriculture and Export Businesses of Heritage Bank.

A Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administrators, Mary holds an MBA from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Benin, Edo State, Nigeria. She is an Alumnus of Lagos Business School, London Business School and INSEAD (France); Mary has attended courses at Stanford Graduate School, Harvard Business School, Kellogg Executive Education and well as IMD (Switzerland).

In 2015, following the acquisition of Enterprise Bank Limited by Heritage Bank Plc, Mary was appointed the Acting Managing Director of Enterprise Bank Limited. Her solid experience in the management of people and resources was instrumental in stabilizing the operations of the bank, improving its service orientation and preparing it for a seamless integration with Heritage Bank Plc.

A consummate Banker with over 30 years cognate experience and vast proficiency and skills in Credit Management, Commercial and Retail strategies, Mary began her banking career with Citizens International Bank serving in different departments before joining Platinum Bank Ltd in 2001 and rose to the position of Executive Director Designate in 2008 overseeing the Service Bank of Bank PHB.

Mary is a team leader with extensive experience in the private and public sectors.

TEJU ABISOYE

Teju Abisoye is a lawyer and the Acting Executive Secretary at the LSETF.

Prior to assuming the role, she was the Programme & Coordination Director at the LSETF. She has worked across various roles in project planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of humanitarian projects.

She also has extensive experience with Government driven entrepreneurship programmes, especially YouWIN!, an initiative of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Lehlé Baldé MSc

Born in Canada to Senegalese parents, Ms Lehlé Baldé is a pan African strategy and communications professional and a passionate financial inclusion advocate and radio host.

She has lived in over 11 countries: Canada, Madagascar, U.K, Kenya, Italy, Swaziland, Rwanda, Cameroun, Senegal, Mozambique, Nigeria and has visited many more. She speaks French and English fluently in addition to conversational Spanish.

Ms. Baldé holds a BA in communication from the University of Waterloo in Canada and a master’s degree in international marketing Strategy from the University of Northampton in the United Kingdom.  She currently works in strategy and partnerships at West Africa’s most authoritative daily and content producer Business Day.

Ms. Balde is a senior associate Strategy Innovation and Partnerships at Business Day Media, West Africa’s leading provider of business intelligence and information on diversified media platforms including online, mobile and print. Ms. Baldé is the anchor of Financial Inclusion Today a radio show program on Rhythm 93.7 powered by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Ms. Baldé is also the columnist behind Business Day Culinary Delights. She is the editor of the Business Day CEO magazine a digital magazine that tells the stories of African millennial entrepreneurs. She is the co-producer of The Bridge Talk Show season 2 and 3.

Ms. Baldé has worked with both the public and the private sectors in the UK, Nigeria, Mozambique, Cameroun, and Canada. She regularly moderates conferences and panels on issues she is passionate about. Ms.Baldé is particularly passionate about financial inclusion, culinary experiences, travel, writing, socio-economic development, human rights and the continent of Africa.

Ommo Clark

Ommo Clark is the Founder / CEO of iBez, a software development and training company that builds technology platforms to solve local and business problems and seeks to close the digital/software development skills gaps in under-served communities. She designed the online platforms Handy-Jacks, www.handy-jacks.com that connects skilled trade workers in the informal sector to clients and new markets and Lets-Share, www.lets-share.com.ng (due to be launched Q4 2019) for accommodation seekers to find spare bedrooms to rent in a home/flat share.

Before iBez, Ommo worked with an International Trade firm in Lagos as Chief Operating Officer, Soft Solutions Ltd (Enterpriseware), Lagos as
Head of Projects Delivery & Support, the Icelandic Investment Bank, Kaupthing, Singer & Friedlander, London, UK as Project Manager, the Investment Bank Lehman Brothers UK as a Team Leader in the Mortgage Capital Division and Real Asset Management UK (a software house) as Application Support
Consultant.

She was nominated by the Institute of Attitudinal Change Managers for its Role Model Award known as Honorary Fellow in August 2019,  listed by Lionesses of Africa in 2018 as one of 21 female Technology / Digital game-changers on the African Continent, by Naij.com in 2017 as one of 21 most inspiring women entrepreneurs in Nigeria, by the Lionesses of Africa in 2016 as one of 41 Nigerian Female Entrepreneurs putting Nigeria on the global map and by Ynaija as the 48th most innovative person in Technology in Nigeria – Class of 2015.

Jones Bassey

Jones Bassey has over 13 year’s brand and communications management experience working at Insight Publicis with Client’s from different sectors in and out of Nigeria. His background spans across various brands including; PepsiCo, Nokia, Emirates, Visa, Porsche, Emzor, Swipha, Jagal, Heineken, Seven-Up Bottling Company, AXA and Palton Morgan. In the last 3 years he has been supporting local bottling giants Seven-Up, in sustaining double digit volume growth YoY to drive business growth across its key beverage portfolio. Jones Bassey has led award-winning campaigns for brand Pepsi in Nigeria, the most notable being the WARC prize for effective social media strategy and most innovative brand on twitter
for “Long throat Campaign” both in 2017.

Jones believes very much that brands exist to solve social problems. The ability of any brand to grow its market share is a function of how much trust the community places on that brand. This has been his approach to developing integrated campaigns for Client in Nigeria.

Jones is an MBA holder and an alumnus of the famous Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun-Nigeria. He is also a full member of the Project Management Institute.

Lola Ekugo

Lola is currently the Head of the Digital Innovation Labs at FirstBank Nigeria, and is at the forefront of the Bank’s Digital transformation journey through innovation and technology. She is transforming the bank through accelerating the digital journey, Fintech start-up collaborations and innovating on solutions to real-life industry challenges.

Lola is a first-class graduate of Business Information Systems at Middlesex University with scholarship for outstanding academic performance and an alumnus of Imperial College Business School. She started her career as a software developer over 13 years ago in the financial services sector and worked in the Corporate sector across Europe and Africa with various companies including Investec, BNP Paribas, and Commerzbank. In 2010, she received a Portfolio Restructuring Unit Excellence award at Commerzbank for her contribution towards the largest ever CDS auction.

Lola has founded two startups, including Transthat.com, a peer to peer logistics platform and serves on the Tech Committee of WimBiz, the Digital Transformation Committee of JA Nigeria. She is also involved in initiatives to boost tech entrepreneurship and develop the STEM agenda across the continent. Lola has travelled to over 30 countries and is very passionate about the value of efficient utilisation of innovative technologies across different sectors and the world at large.

Oreoluwa Somolu-Lesi

 

Oreoluwa Lesi is the Founder and Executive Director of the Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC). W.TEC is a Nigerian non-profit organisation committed to building a more inclusive technology ecosystem, with the next generation of women as technology creators, entrepreneurs and leaders. Over recent years, our work has expanded to explore how technology can improve learning outcomes and better integrate students with developmental disabilities and special needs, such as Autism and Down’s syndrome.

Through her work at W.TEC, she has designed high-quality programming for 27,000 girls and

Women – including camps, after school clubs and workshops. Through these programmes, they have learnt to create technology – including applications, games, websites, short films and other digital content and use technology safely and productively.

Her Network Technology Woman of the Year 2018, Leading Ladies Africa’s 2018 100 Most Inspiring Women in Nigeria, SME100’s 100 Most Innovative Female-Owned Businesses in Nigeria for 2017, one of YNaija!’s Top 100 Young People in Technology of 2016 and 2014, one of New African Woman Magazine’s Top African Women in Technology in 2014 and with a 2014 ‘Chosen Youth’ Leadership Award from LaRoche Foundation.

Layole Oyatogun

Layole Oyatogun is a Media Personality, Actress and a seasoned compere, A graduate of Mass Communication from the University of Lagos, she started her career co-presenting an entertainment show called ‘Star Dust’ with her younger sister on MITV. She moved on to Silverbird Television where she worked for seven years. While at Silverbird TV, she conceptualized, anchored and produced the Cadbury Breakfast TV show, Page 3, MBGN Diary,  and numerous documentaries, promos and fillers.
Layole is also loved for adding value with her go- to pronunciation tutorial videos  titled ‘Learn With Layole’ on Instagram

Layole has featured in the following movies 30 Days by Ego Boyo and Mildred Okwo, Damage, Unconditional by Uche Jombo, Mrs and Mrs Johnson, U-Turn by Grace Oboba, Trapped, The Inn, Along Bothering Lines and many more movies.

Layole is also a seasoned Red-carpet host, with stints at the red carpet of various Fashion weeks both home and abroad, including; Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Joburg, Pretoria, and  New York. Arise Fashion Week Nigeria,  Lagos Fashion and Design Week, Africa Movie Academy Awards AMAA, She was the only red carpet host at the inaugural ball of President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice-President Namani Sambo in Aso-rock.

She has also hosted events such as Africa International Fashion Week, Nigeria’s Next Super Model, Denizz Fashion Show, City People Awards for Excellence, Africa Fashion Week Nigeria, Luxury Beauty Brunch, Ethan and Harriet Product Launch, ELOY Awards, Green October Event, Advertisers Association of Nigeria  Awards (ADVAN) Weddings and many more.

Layole was nominated at the 2012 Nigerian Broadcasters Award in the category Most promising and young presenter of the year also at the 2013 Eloy awards in the  Female Tv presenter of the year category and the Most stylish female celebrity at Lamode Green October Event 2019

Layole has now established her Production company, Layole Oyatogun Productions for fashion-related Tv shows and Movies, she’s set to take over the world with interesting and captivating content.
