Fashions Finest Africa 2018 kicked off with pre-event activities in collaboration with Eagle 8 Consulting organised master classes on Wednesday, May 23 and Thursday, May 24 at NEPC Training Center, Apapa. The Master classes were anchored by Mabel Doe (Fashion Consultant/Fashion Technologist) and Jennifer Sutton (Development Director, Fashion Enter/Capital Uk). The master classes themed ‘How to transform from boutique to Mass production” had a lot of fashion entrepreneurs in attendance.

The Epic Show started on Friday, May 25, 2018 with a Fashion Conference themed, ‘Increasing Nigeria’s participation in the global garment production industry”. The conference was enlightening and in-depth about the garment industry and the production process. The headline Speaker Jennifer Sutton, explained thoroughly the process of garment making, Mabel Doe, Fashion Consultant also gave explanations on the garment production and the factory process. There was also a panel session featuring Nigeria Fashion industry experts where they spoke about their experiences and challenges, the session was moderated by Lucky Idike Jr. and Jennifer Sutton, the panellists included, Mabel Doe (Fashion Consultant/Fashion Technologist), Chris Oputa (CEO Studio 24), Funmi Ajila-Ladipo (FADAN President), Morin Obawaya (CEO Morin.O), and Ohimai Atafo (CEO Mai Atafo). There were also groundbreaking speeches by Mallam Ismaila Zakari (ICAN President), Veronica Orierie (representative of Mr Olusegun Awolowo, CEO NEPC), Adenike Ogunlesi (Founder Ruff ‘n’ Tumble) and Dr. Waheed A. Olagunju, ED (SME) Bank of Industry.

Later in the evening, we held the first prestigious Fashions Finest Africa Fashion Awards hosted by Bolanle Olukanni, celebrating those who have made a mark in the fashion industry across Africa and the winners are Lisa Folawiyo, Rich Mnisi, Mai Atafo, Emmy Kasbit, Artiste by dodos. The Style Infidel, GTBANK Fashion Weekend, Omoyemi Akerele, Pichulik, Tubo, Papa Oppong, Buqisi – Ruux, Femi handbags, Reze Bonna, Toke Makinwa, Schick magazine, Adire Lounge, Tosan Dudun, Ayomide Ayodele, Payporte, Kefi boo and Deola Sagoe.

The Epic Show continued on Sunday and Monday with an Exhibition arena showcasing goods and services from our amazing vendors, Style talk panel sessions by Glamofficial and runway shows featuring Student designers, New and Emerging designers and Established designers. The Sunday designers who showcased included, Guzzling, Ageless Fashion, Sakky 7 Creative Fashion, The Fabric Hub, House of Caacuun, Oma Humprey Signature, Oma Couture, Love Nwafor, Made by Needle Queen, Saanduks, SGTC Clothing, Fhibbs Signature, Isi Atagamen and Jane Michael closed the show beautifully with her amazing collection and a beautiful dance act.

Monday’s runway show was opened by Ghanian designer Gavachy, House of Moreni, Apex Clothing, Keerahs Fashion Cave, Adejo, Hackky, Tai.Lore, Vonray Designs, Morin.O, Niiffe, Lines by Chaab, JP Kouture and headline designer Mai Atafo (white and black collection in collaboration with Nivea) closed the show.

After the fashion show on Monday, we had ‘Fashion Rave’ in collaboration with Must Blow and DJ CrowdKontroller on the wheels on steel featuring Artist Falz the bahdguy, Praiz and showcasing alongside Must Blow designs amongst some other designers to wrap up the week-long activities.

FASHIONS FINEST AFRICA ANNOUNCES NEW SHOW DATES !!!

 

 

 

The Fashions Finest Africa team would like to inform the entire public that the dates for the Epic Show have been moved. The Epic Show which was initially set to hold from Friday, May 25th to Sunday, May 27th 2018 will now hold on Friday, May 25th, Sunday, May 27th and Monday, May 28th 2018.All activities and events of the Epic Show remain the same except that the Saturday show has been moved to Sunday and that of Sunday to Monday.

The Epic Show will kick off on Friday Morning, with a Fashion conference where those who matter in the fashion industry will take on panel sessions. The conference themed; “Increasing Nigeria’s participation in the Global Garment Production industry” has Her Excellency Hajia Aisha Abubakar, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment as the Guest of Honour while Mallam Ismaila Zakari(ICAN President) would be speaking at the conference.  Jennifer Sutton (Development Director, Fashion Enter/Capital Uk) who is the Headline conference speaker will be discussing the British fashion industry and how Fashion Enter now successfully produces up to 10,000 units a week in a fully compliant factory, and how their practices and approaches can be executed in the Nigerian Garment/fashion industry. Mabel Doe (Technical consultant/Fashion Technologist) who is an expert in her field would also be speaking at the conference. Our Panel session includes Mrs Funmi Ajila -Ladipo (FADAN PRESIDENT), Engr. Chris Oputa (CEO Studio 24), Ohimai Atafo (CEO Mai Atafo), Morin Obaweya (CEO Morin.O) and moderated by Lucky Idike Jr.

Then later in the day the prestigious Fashions Finest Africa Awards will take place. The essence of the awards is to celebrate those who have made a mark in the fashion industry.

All through the three days we will also play hosts to Exhibitors and our marketplace vendors giving the opportunity to fashion lovers to shop till they drop.

The Epic show will continue on Sunday and Monday with a Fashion show featuring Student designers, New and Emerging designers and established designers out of Africa.

After the Fashion show on Monday evening, the Epic Show will be closed with the Fashions Finest Africa Rave where everyone would hit the dance floor with fashion twist and have even more fun with Ace DJ Crowd Kontroller on the wheels of steel.

Fashions Finest Africa (FFA) will hold the maiden edition of FFA Conference on Friday, 25th  May 2018, at the Balmoral Convention Center, Federal Palace Hotel.

The Conference which is the Opening Event of Fashions Finest Africa Conference and Epic Show 2018 has the theme: “Increasing Nigeria’s Participation in the Global Garment Production Industry”.

We are thrilled to announce Jennifer Sutton as the Headline Speaker at the FFA 2018 Conference. Jenni, as she’s popularly known, is the Development Director at Fashion Enter, the UK’s leading ethical garment manufacturer.

Jenni joined Fashion Enter in 2006 as a paid intern when Fashion Enter UK was incorporated and has seen the company grow and develop from a team of four employees to what it is today. As Development Director, Jenni is responsible for all new business strategic decisions and works across all functions of the business.

Fashion Enter’s 7,500 square foot Factory in North London manufactures 10,000 garments a week for leading retailers such as ASOS and David Nieper and incorporates a Fashion Studio for sampling and small production runs for London Fashion Week designers and new business start-ups. FFA’S GARMENT AND FASHION INDUSTRY CONFERENCE

The Fashions Finest Africa team isn’t relenting at ensuring that Fashions Finest Africa Epic Show 2018 brings nothing but the very best to the African fashion industry. In line with the runway show, exhibitions and prestigious awards, there would also be a conference where those that matter in the African Fashion Industry would be present.
The conference is set to hold on Friday, May 25, 2017 at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, from 9am to 3pm.

The conference being the opening activity of the Fashions Finest Africa Epic Show 2018 will hold with the theme: “How to Increase Nigeria’s Participation in the Global Garment Production Industry”.

As the Fashions Finest Africa Epic Show draws near the excitement is in the air as the organizers of the fashion weekend extravaganza make final touches to ensure that the event is one to remember.

The Lagos Theatre Festival (LTF) 2018 is set to hold from February 27 till March 4, 2018, in Lagos across various venues with a focus on presenting innovative interpretations of new ideas that will inspire and challenge audiences, and new works that will spark conversations and debates. It has ‘Theatre in Unconventional Spaces,’ as the theme.
Lagos Theatre Festival was conceived and launched in 2013 by the United Kingdom’s cultural organisation, British Council, inspired by the need to provide a platform for theatre-makers in Nigeria to produce works for unconventional spaces and develop audiences for theatre productions.
This year, Fashions Finest Africa in conjunction with the British Council & Lagos Theatre Festival will be presenting the ‘Theatre of Fashion’ show taking place during the Lagos Theatre Festival on Sunday 4th March at Ember Creek, Victoria Island, Lagos at 5pm. This particular show is designed to be a blend of fashion, costuming and of course, theatre. This is to enlighten as well as entertain the lovers of the arts, fashion, and promote this integral area of theatre.
The Lagos Theatre Festival is ultimately aimed at creating a platform for the brains behind the captivating, creative outlooks designed through the sheer ingenuity of the costumiers while, behind the scene and is produced by Sola Oyebade.
It will feature a Fashion Show and Panel talk on Costumes and Fashion in Theatre
Four amazing costumiers will feature as panellists at the event showcasing their works and speak about the theatre world.
Ituen Bassey is the innovative Nigerian Designer behind the multi-award-winning label ‘ItuenBasi’. She is a Theatre Arts graduate from the University of Ife in Nigeria. She trained under Theatre Art ‘greats’ like Wole Soyinka, Yemi Ogunbiyi, Kole Omotosho, Femi Euba and Chuck Mike. Ituen later majored in Tailoring and Clothing Technology at the London College of Fashion, UK.

In 2009, she launched her first full home-based collection to critical acclaim and pioneered a new era of Ankara interpretation in Nigeria and Africa. In its 4 years, the label has been featured in Vogue Italia, British Vogue, Elle (South Africa), Ebony and Pride magazine, amongst other international press. The label has shown on runways in Dakar, Milan, Paris, London, Vienna and Johannesburg (where the label was awarded Mercedes Benz Designer of the Year, 2012).In addition, Vogue Italia invited Ituen Basi to take part in Pitti (Milan) trade show under their SUPER Talents.

Being part of the Theatre is a major devotion for Ituen Bassey; she has made innovative costumes for stage plays like, For Coloured Girls 2011, Kakadu the Musical 2013 and Hear Word, the stage play 2014. Also, Ituen Bassey was invited to be on the panel of the Stanford Business Forum, as a speaker in April 2014 and in February 2014, she was a panellist at the Fashion Africa Conference in London.
Ituen Bassey continues to work tirelessly to support and capacity build practitioners of the Nigerian Garment Industry through her training programmes and initiatives

Margaret Henshaw-Da Costa’s career started in the 80’s where she worked in the Centre of Cultural Studies at the University of Lagos.

Over the last 30 years, she has worked on both local and international stage and featured as an Actor, Dancer, Choreographer, Theatre & Carnival Costume Designer and Production Consultant.

Her versatility has enabled her work with several production outfits and veterans such as Fred Agbeyegbe’s AJO Productions, Ben Tomoloju’s Kakaaki Troupe, the Late Christiana Essien Igbokwe, Epiphanio Farofa (dance troupe), UNILAG Africarribean Carnival, Wazobia Carnival, to mention but a few.

She is currently the Creative Principal Cultural Officer at the Department of Creative Arts, University of Lagos, Akoka.

Mrs Da Costa has a costuming brand called Magaret Henshaw and if you ask anyone, you’ll hear that she is simply a delight to work with.

ISAAC BASSEY is a widely travelled costumier who specializes in carnival costumes.
Isaac, who had a stint with costuming at The Departments of Theatre Arts, University of Calabar, moved to study proper costuming in Doki, Egypt and Trinidad and Tobago.
He has since costumed numerous stage plays, T.V series, weddings, festivals & carnivals.
Some of his costuming credits include; The International Drums Festival, (Cairo, Egypt), CARNIRIV (The Port-Harcourt Carnival), The Calabar CarnivalOgwash Carnival (Delta State), Confluence Carnival (Kogi state), Wazobia FM Carnival, Lagos, Africaribeanna Carnival, (Unilag) , and a host of others.
He currently heads the Artistic Management Affairs Department of Udo Marriam Theatre Company. He is also the CEO of Zikky’s Creations, a costumes outfit.
Yetunde Mojola is a Nigerian costumier with over 8 years of experience in the field.

She has a flair for detailed, thematic and artistic costuming which is greatly influenced by dance, movement and nature.

She has served as lead costumier on a number of productions/performances and assisted on some.

Some of her costuming credits include; “Moremi the Musical”. “The Butcher and The Bridge”, “Maltina Dance Hall”, “Lagos Dance Exhibition 2017”, etc

Yetunde currently serves as MD /Head designer at COSTUME SHOP.

Fashions Finest Africa debuted in Nigeria on Sunday 27th August, 2017 at The Guest House Ikoyi, Lagos, it was tagged Renaissance and it featured four amazing emerging designers SGTC Clothing, 1407, Sally Bawa and Nkadz. The fashion show was talked about for weeks in the fashion sphere as it surpassed all expectations.

The Fashions Finest team is here again with The EPIC Show which is bigger, better and more packed.
The Epic Show would be a three-day event running from Friday 25th May to Sunday 27th May 2018; it will be three days of non stop fashion with a lot of activities for those in the business of fashion and for lovers of fashion.

The fashion extravaganza will kick off on Friday at noon with a Fashion conference where those who matter in the fashion industry will take on panel sessions. We will also play hosts to Exhibitors and our marketplace vendors giving the opportunity to fashion lovers to shop till you drop. The fashion show will continue on Saturday and Sunday featuring Student designers, New and Emerging designers and established designers out of Africa.

Fashions Finest Africa EPIC Show 2018 is set to take place at The Balmoral, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. Nigeria.
